So here's the story of Cory:
On Thursday, Oct 29th I had a dr's appt and explained how I was having some pains and she thought that I may have a bladder infection. So I keep getting these pains and on thursday night and friday, some of them really hurt. I didn't know if these were from a bladder infection or what. I figured they were. Well I had a really bad pain early Friday afternoon, called for the results and they didn't have them, called my mom who told me it didn't sound like pains from a bladder infection and that I should get it checked out. So I went into labor and delivery and was hooked up to monitors. I was having contractions but they were any where from 3 to 8 minutes apart. Then they started getting a little closer. I was not dilated at all at 3:30pm. The babies heart rate kept dropping so they sent me down for an ultrasound to check on him. I was 1-2 cm before I went down. The whole time I was having the ultrasound I was having contractions 3 minutes apart and they were becoming stronger!! I got back up to the room and was 4 cm at 8pm. I told them I wanted the epidural because the contractions were killing me! I was having major back labor. Before I got the epidural the nurse checked me again and I was 6cm at 8:45pm. I got the epidural and it really hurt but took the pain away immediately! I was checked again around 9 and was almost 8 cm. Well everything kind of slowed down after the epidural and somewhere along the way I was 10 cm and started to push, but I couldn't feel anything down there so it was very hard to figure out how to push! The baby was coming out sideways and got stuck so they had to use a vacuum to get him out! He came out at 10:46pm on Friday, Oct. 30th. 4 weeks early!!!! It was quite the shocker!! He had a lot of gook in his lungs and so they had to take him to the "special nursery" to get it all out and gave him some oxygen.
When we went to our first dr's appt he sent us to get blood work for jaundice and it came back dangerously high so off to the hospital we went where he was admitted for 28 hours! It was a long 28 hours and very stressful. He spent all of his time under the "lights" except for feeding and blood work. His levels all came down and he was sent home :-) So all is well now. It's been a crazy week, but now it's all good. We are all glad to be home!! Cory is now 9 days old! :-)

Glad to hear all is well now! Looking forward to seeing more pics as soon as you get a chance to put them up! :-)
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe the doctor thought you had a bladder infection! I guess this time was so different that you didn't recognize the contractions?! I'm really curious what this one is going to be like for me. Glad everything went well for you and that you were able to have the epidural this time! I didn't want to have it my first time, but now that I've had it, I don't know if I could go without! I had virtually NO PAIN afterward, even int he days of recovery when you're supposed to have cramping as your uterus goes back to normal. We'll see! God bless you with your new little one!
