pregnancy ramblings....

Hello. I haven't written in a while. I haven't really had anything to write. Things are going on as normal. Nothing is really different. Except that my little three year old has decided that he no longer wants to take a nap. Which worries me because when the new baby comes, I'm gonna want to nap when the baby naps-can't do that with a three year old running around!! The perks of no nap time are that he does straight to sleep when put to bed and night and sleeps really well through the night. He slept from 9-6 last night without waking up and just woke up at 9:30. So he's getting plenty of sleep...just all at once. I do enjoy not having to go back and forth between his bedroom and mine during the night. But still- no nap....not sure about that. He does however just lay in his room trying to go to sleep. So I might just give him some alone time everyday and if he falls asleep, great! and if not, oh well!

Baby Cory is quite the active fella'. I think he's more active than Kayden was- and Kayden was active!! I'm going to have fun with two crazy boys ruling the house! It's going to be a mad house here! Hopefully they'll put all their energy into sports and such. That would be nice- just not football. I don't like football...makes me nervous...too dangerous. Jon doesn't agree. Thankfully the school I want to send them to doesn't have football-works for me! Back to Baby Cory- he likes to nestle himself low in my belly. it's not very comfortable at all. He must be though because he does it all the time. Very rarely do I feel him close to my belly button or above. I hope this doesn't mean he'll come out even faster when it's time!!! I had one braxton hicks contraction the other night and it freaked me out! I just laid there waiting to see if anymore would come. They didn't, so I was very relieved! I never got one of those until the month before Kayden was born. And had them all day right before he was born. So I'm very nervous of them. Hopefully they stay far far away from me!!!! Apparently though, the uterus contracts all the time, mothers just don't always feel it. During my 2nd ultrasound (I've had 4), the lady told me I was having a contraction and I was like "what?" and she goes, "oh but not that kind". I never knew that before.

So Kayden keeps amazing me with stuff he knows that I never knew he knew. It's crazy how they pick up on things and you're like, I didn't teach them that. He picked up a dollar bill on Sunday and told me it was money. I had no idea he knew that was called money. The kid has never ever touched a dollar bill before. And he had the light shining through on his leg from the window the other day and I asked him what that was and he told me the sun and that it was in the sky and we were just amazed. yet another thing, we never taught him. He just figured it out by himself. I think it's pretty cool that he figured out that the light was from the sun when we were inside with the curtains closed and only that little bit of light shining through. He's smarter than we give him credit for. Another check mark for his pre-school skills is that he knows all his number 0-10. Still can't count or say his alphabet, but he can recognize all of them. He's doing it a little backwards. Most kids say them long before they learn what they look like. Oh well. Works for him. :-) Now if we could just teach him how to put pants on the right way....haha...he's trying to put them on from the bottoms right now...not gonna work. oh now he's trying the right way...yay! let's see if both legs end up in one side.....he ended up getting my help for the other side :-)

  1. Hey Ash,

I'm with you on the nap thing. Everyone around here is taught to have a quiet time in the afternoon where they sit with a few books and a toy or two. Some days I need it for the rest (not so much now), some days I need it for the sanity, and still other days it's just plain nice. Kind of hard work teaching them to stay put, but if you're consistent it won't take too long.

Learning to recognize the letters and the sounds that they make is way more important when it comes to reading than learning the letter names. You'll find that kids have a better number sense than we give them credit for too. While they don't know how to answer 3-2 until taught, they can easily answer a simple word problem.(ie. If Mommy had three lollipops and you ate two of them, how many would Mommy have left.) Anyway, it's pretty cool.

It really is amazing the mind that God has given us and the capacity we have for solving problems. And yet we can't even begin to comprehend a fraction of God--lol. The more we learn, the more realize we need to learn.

Anyway, glad that you're feeling well and that things are going well for you all!!
