Hello again! I'm excited that so many of you read my blog! you must all love me! :-) I was worried that just my mom would.
Anyways, today we went to Boardman, Ohio and Kayden got to play at the mall playground and then at the chick-fil-a play area. He loved it! He thinks that every kid there is there to play with him. He copies everything that they do. It's so funny! He just laughs and laughs. The other kids probably think he's strange. lol.
We have been trying to get Kayden to sleep all by himself in his bed since the beginning of January and it's been going really well lately. He slept from 10:30-6:50 all by himself! I never had to go in there once! It was great! But all night I kept wondering if he was ok. So I didn't even get to fully enjoy his great slumber. Oh well I'm sure that as he begins to do that on a more regular basis that I will get used to knowing he's ok and I'll finally get a good nights sleep. I can't wait!
Our plan by the time he's three is to have him sleeping all night by himself, get rid of the pacifier, and get him potty trained, or at least well into it. He doesn't communicate much and so I really don't think we would progress very far if I tried to push potty training right now. I think it'll work better and quicker when he's alittle older. I also have no idea how I'm going to get rid of the pacifier. He falls asleep without it in the car and sleeps most of the night without it anyways once it falls out but I just don't see him falling asleep without it. So we'll see how it goes. We gotta get him sleeping every night by himself first before we try something else that's new with him.
I'm in the process of trying to teach him his colors. I just started yesterday, so we didn't get very far but hopefully he'll know them soon! I just need to make sure I'm putting in the time and effort to teach him.
Today is my niece's birthday. She's 6 years old. My friend Val's sister also had her baby today- a little boy. She sent me pictures and he is so cute! So it's a good day for birthday's apparently. :-) Now Val just needs to get cracking on having her own baby! I keep telling her and she keeps ignoring me!
Anyways, I think that's it for now. I need to get cleaning some of my house! It's quite the mess! Bye!

One of my friends had a trick for getting her kid to stop using a pacifier...she gradually cut a bit off every couple of days. At first, there was a minimal difference. However, it finally got to be that it didn't stay in his mouth very well, and he kept having to pick it up and put it back in again. Then, he had to hold it in b/c it wouldn't stay at all, but with nothing much there, he found it didn't give him much pleasure and he gave it up. Don't know if that would help with Kayden or not, but it worked for them. We've never used them so that's about all I can offer :P
ReplyDeleteColors are fun...it took Matthew forever to learn his colors. I finally started telling him, "green like the grass, yellow like the sun, etc." At first I thought he might have been having vision problems or something, but I noticed he would organize the letter magnets on the fridge by color so I figured he was seeing them okay. Sometimes he still says, "That's colored like the sun/grass/etc." It's cute, but I'm glad that he is starting to get the hang of it. I guess it all comes with time.
